Muladhara Chakra Hatha Class

Q

The intention for this class is to connect to the Muladhara chakra, the root or base chakra, using visualisation, pranayama and asana. The practice is suitable for all levels. If you would like to use essential oils or scented candles/incense I would recommend Frankinsence or Patchouli and perhaps some vetiver oil on the soles of the feet just before savasana. Recommended props: blanket.

Other suggested ways to connect with the Muladhara chakra could be to wear something red, get your hands in some soil, so gardening is a wonderful way to connect with the grounding energy of the earth and root chakra, also walking bare foot on the morning dewy grass.

Yin for Spring (Part 2) Class

T

Yin for Spring, (Part 2). We continue to work with the spring energy lines, liver and gallbladder for this practice. The class is suitable for all although care should be taken if you have any hip injuries or had a hip replacement in the last year due to the external and internal rotation in the hip joints for long durations. Props that would be helpful for this practice are: bolster/rolled towel; blanket/cushioning; brick/blocks or anything you could use to improvise and make the postures more comfortable for you. This is a silent yin practice with only my commentary so if you wish to use your own playlist then feel free but perhaps try this without so there is less escape and distraction for the mind.  Postures will be held between 3-5mins but ALL bodies are different so please make sure you have as many props as you might need for this practice.

V

A hatha yoga class for the Manipura Chakra. When we have efficient function of this chakra it can manifest as having good self-esteem, feeling of purpose in what we do, we are self motivated and energised, we are strong and heard without being dominating. Signs that we are deficient in this chakra can manifest in eating disorders, low self esteem, difficulty with decision making. Anger, frustration, guilt, worry and doubt are also possible indicators of a manipura chakra imbalance. Ways we can work with this chakra off the mat could be using the scents of rosemary and lavender, wearing or decorating a room with shades of yellow, using these colours with the sense of purpose for energising your 3rd chakra. Affirmations work well too such as 'I am worthy' or 'I am powerful'.

Recommended props for this class are: brick/block; cushioning for the knees; rolled towels or block to hug between the thighs and possibly a belt but not essential.
